Hail the all-father. Hail Odin!
Odin chooses you. You may be feeling the connection to him already and now you are in the process of looking at the myriad options available. If you are considering our Odin as one of your options, we would like to share that there are four components to our design that make him unique.
1. His hailing pose and flowing robe that wraps around him and the wolves. In a "winter is coming" way, we decided the robes of a 'father' are appropriate for the all father. His glaring confidence and raised hand are challenging and calling us, hailing us to stand with him in defiance of all that needs to change, all that needs to bend, all that needs to come together, and all that is. We are tribe. We are chosen.
2. His spear, Gungnir. Since we already had the crows in his tribute Vegvisir statue, we decided to place a raven's skull as the tip of his legendary spear, the Gungnir. Gungnir was a powerful spear made of Uru used by the rulers of Asgard and serves as a symbol of Asgardian kingship.
3. His familiars and friends, the wolves Geri and Freki. Their names mean "the greedy one" and "the ravenous one" respectively. One could argue that they are the same but we have interpreted one to be more greedy and one to be more ravenous. You can decide which one is which or ask if you are not sure.
4. His expression and horns. Blending traditional depictions, Marvel characters, American Gods and the epic new Assassin's Creed Valhalla, we brought Odin to life in a balance of contemporary depictions and iconic mythologies. We kept all of his traditional and mythological features and tried to balance all of the current popular icons, heathen versions, along with follower odes and worship tributes. We look forward to your feedback or thoughts on whether or not we have effectively combined historical and modern references into an expressive and appropriate version that is neither new nor old.
Hail Odin! Hail the All-father.
All of our products are designed and individually 3D printed here in our home studio using a bio-safe, non-toxic, vegetable, wood fibre or sugar-cane based PLA. We then hand-finish each piece, usually smoothing and sanding them using a natural wood fibre material and then acrylic paints or glazes. The cured finishes are non-toxic but the metallic finishes do have the actual metals in them. This is a clean and local process and our materials are selected from those made in Canada or the USA. We are 100% NOT “Made in China” and take some pride in that. Through careful research and testing, we have found a great way to get around the toxic resin and moulding processes used in most of the statues on the market.
