The Morrigan is a powerful Celtic goddess of death and destiny known as the Great Queen or the Phantom Queen. Traditionally depicted as a war goddess, she could bring both prophecy and favour to gods and heroes alike. She  was also heralded as a guardian of the land who used her magical powers to protect Ireland and its people. She has a romantic connection with Samhain or Halloween. According to Celtic myth, it was on Samhain night that she kept a longstanding tryst with her lover the Dagda, the great father-god of the old Celtic pantheon. The Morrigan was known for her shape shifting ability often seen as an expression of her power over living things. She frequently appeared as a bull, a crow and a wolf.

She is often called  Badb Catha, which means Battle Crow or Raven. It’s this association with her appearance in bird form that inspired our version of the Goddess.  We designed  her standing in the middle of the Seed of Life and flanked by two crows and a winged snake that adorn the triple moon altar base.

The Morrigan challenges us to take action in our lives, to be change, to release what no longer serves, to fight for what we believe in.  Morrigan’s power to shapeshift underscores the importance of transformation as we invoke her guidance.

Product Details: Our Morrighan stands 10.5cm high, 18cm wide, 8cm deep and weighs 56g. She is hand-finished in black vegetable-based PLA.

All of our products are designed and individually 3D printed here in our home studio using a bio-safe, non-toxic, vegetable, wood fibre or sugar-cane based PLA. We then hand-finish each piece, usually smoothing and sanding them using a natural wood fibre material and then acrylic paints or glazes. The cured finishes are non-toxic but the metallic finishes do have the actual metals in them. This is a clean and local process and our materials are selected from those made in Canada or the USA. We are 100% NOT “Made in China” and take some pride in that. Through careful research and testing, we have found a great way to get around the toxic resin and moulding processes used in most of the statues on the market.
